Getting A Non-imm O

Featured Replies

Hi all. I currently have a non-imm O visa (Married to a Thai), it is soon to expire, and I will be applying for another

of the same but I don't fancy flying back to Oz just to apply. Does anyone know if any Thai Consulate in Australia

accepts applications by mail, provided I am outside Thailand? eg: I go to Laos, then mail my passpost to the consulate

in Oz with the application.

Or would my chances be better by applying in Vientianne or Malaysia in person?

Thank you.

You could could get a 1 year extension of stay at immigration. You just need to show 40K baht income or 400K in the bank for 2 months.

Or you can get a multiple entry visa in KL or Penang. You would need to show a bank book with about 100,000 baht in it.

Thanks for the quick reply Ubon, is the 100K requirement only in Malaysia?

Also keen to hear in anyone knows anything about Consulates accepting posted applications.

Cheers.

Kl and Penang are the only nearby consulates that are known to regularly issue multiple entry visas. They will accept other forms of proof other than the 100,000 baht. A letter from you embassy proving an income would be enough. They just want proof that you have the funds to support yourself.

The 100K number seems to be good consistent number they expect. We have various reports that even have inclued no proof being shown.

I have no information about mail in applications. You would have to contact the embasy or consulate to get that information or look through there website for info.

See this list of embassy and consulates for contact info. http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2712.php

It does not list honorary consulates but some embassy websites have lists of theose. For example the embassy website for Canberra has a list on its website. http://canberra.thaiembassy.org/address.asp

Thanks again for your detailed reply ubon, I was just reading this post, am I understanding it correctly that if I apply for another non imm O before my current one expires, then there is no need to show funds?

Cheers

The requirements should be the same whether you already have a Visa or not.

That was one person at one location 9 months ago. How lucky are you at Lotto? I expect a history at the Consulate can help (I know it did me on one occasion a decade ago). But I would not place any bets on it.

It might only hold true for visas issued by Penang.

You might contact the agent mentioned in the post. There have been many posts that they are very helpfull in getting non-o's. Link to website: http://www.banananewguesthouse.com/

It's a long shot, but if you know anyone living in the UK who would post your application and accept the return envelope, the consulate in Hull, England accept postal applications. But they do look for a Thai exit stamp, so you must be out of here when applying.

Thanks to all of you for your replies, much appreciated, it's difficult searching for non immigrant O visa's, the search option doesn't seem to like the query having 3 letters or less.

Again thanks to all for your time replying.

Emailed Banana Guesthouse, below is their reply, any comments by anyone? Thought the amount required in a bank account was 100K, not 400K. After reading a few other posts as well as this one, looks like KL might be the go, not Penang. Can other confirm that when showing the bank book as proof, there is no requirement as to how long the money has been in the account, as long as it is there. Cheers

Hi,

Non Immigrant O visa

1. married certificate

2. wife ID copy

3. house documents - blue book or any rental receipts

4. Thailand bank book with at least 400,000bahts (if you want to be considered for the 1year visa()

3mths visa RM220 + RM30 = RM250

1year visa RM550 + RM50 = RM600

This is the requirement in Penang Thai Consulate. Sometimes they even require to see 800,000 bahts is

all depending on the consul.

If you are applying your visa thru Penang, then you just have to follow. As mentioned to you earlier,

if you want to get 1 year visa then only you need to show proof of the money. If you only want 3mths visa,

then you only bring along item 1, 2 and 3.

Better bet would be to try KL then.

The amount of money mentioned in reports is what somebody had in their account not the amount required. The 800K would of been for retirement.

KL is where we get the most reports for. So it may be the best choice.

thanks for your replies. Just another question, when obtaining an extension of a non-imm O visa at immigration within Thailand, if I opt for the 40K baht income rule, does that income have to be in a Thai bank?

It does not have to be in the bank. If it is money earned outside of Thailand it is proven by a letter from your embassy.

Within the country by tax payments and a work permit to prove you are working legally.
