george Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 PM poised to hold avian flu meeting BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will convene a meeting on the avian flu pandemic next week, when experts from across the country will be expected to thrash out a clear position on various bird flu related issues. The meeting was announced after yesterday's cabinet meeting by Government Spokesman Jakrapob Penkair, who said that the measures outlined in the meeting would be put into practice immediately the new government comes into office. He insisted that to date no decisions have been taken on whether or not to introduce a vaccine for the virus. However, he said that the prime minister had stressed that Thailand would continue to act responsibly over the issue and would not allow avian flu to become a problem that could spread to other countries in the region. --TNA 2005-02-16
