Sounds rather nebulous

BR>Jack

But a spokeswoman from the BEA, the French air accident authority, noted that many sounds were picked up on the sea bed and investigators were not sure that what they had detected was from the flight recorders. "It's not the first time sounds have been heard and we will be verifying this with all the equipment we have at our disposal," she said. "The search is continuing and we haven't found the recorders." An Air France spokeswoman also said she could not confirm the newspaper report.

Yes just check the french news, they didn't find the black boxes.

They say they check all the the noises coming from the bottom of the ocean.

I wonder witch kind of noises can come from there if it's not from a black boxe :)

Whales, dolphins or squid make noises similar to black box signals. Some scientists have proposed they do it intentionally as a form of play mimicry.

I was wondering if the black box was not doing the same noise as a farting fish.

Seriously, thank for the info, we learn everydays

Seems to me that a radical rethink of the black box is required. Surely constant transmission of all data and voice etc. is possible with today's technology ? We have internet on planes.

Even if we persist with the boxes, as the world is 70% or so water, we should perhaps think about making it last longer than 30 days and making it easier to find

We were recently working in about 3000m of water and we lost something on the sea bed and we knew approximately where it was to within about 20m, we finally gave up on the search. The odds of finding the black box are not good. Other noises will not hamper the search at that depth as the searchers know the frequency they are looking for and can tune out other noise ranges, the problem will be getting a rough fix to establish the search area and then hope that it didn't go into the mud (which it might well have done).

Right....this has little to do with Thailand....and it's getting to be "old news".

Latest I read....the black boc has NOT been located.

Crew seats (i.e. for a stewardess) were found, and the cabin crew was not sitting in them, because the seat belts not fastened. Furthermore some bodies seem to have indications that their lungs experienced decompression before impact (small blood vessels in lungs have burst, indicationg they were ruptured due to sudden decromprssion).

The fact that cabin crew was not sitting in their seats may show that cabin crew was up and moving about the aircraft. And the evidence of small blood vessels bursting in some passengers lungs may indicate that the plane broke up rapidly with decomprssion/loss of air at high altitude. For those reasons the theory that the plane broke apart at 35,000 to 40,000 feet suddenly is being considered.
