Asahna Bucha Day Closures

Featured Replies

I have some family in Bangkok on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 July and was planing to show them the sites. I understand that government offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for the Asahna Bucha Day (7th). Can anyone advise on whether this will affect places like the National Museum, Grand Palace, etc. Thanks

they wont be closed, boozing places (bars, pubs) may be alcohol free though from Midnight on the 6th.

Bkkjames, government offices, IE: post office, and banks will be open on both July 6 & 7?

According to my Thai diary the holidays are:

1) Tuesday 7th (Asarnaha Bucha Day)

2) Wednesday 8th (Buddhist Lent)

Banks (outside of shopping malls) and offices are closed on Tuesday. Malls (atms) and tourist attractions are open as usual.

Currency exchange booths in Tourist areas generally are open regardless of holidays here.

Well, I went to Chiang Mai gpo today, 6th, and it was closed, as was the bank on the way there, so I'm hoping very much for the 8th.
