Give us your 'best' bad day. But, you also have to say how big or small is your engine.

Yesterday I did 16.9L/100km or 13.9MPG. And, that was with a 4 cylinder engine (2 liter). But, it was on Sathorn (coming and going) on a lunchtime weekday.

Hello Corkscrew,

actually I think that is very good value for money.

If you drive 16km in 77 minutes and your car only consumes 16.9 liter / 100 km it means you can continue this speed for another 480 minutes with just 16.9 liter of fuel.

Now how much is a liter, 29, - THB? :D

That means 480 minutes in your SLK slow moving with a running air condition cost you around 490,- THB. :D

So if you would start the 8 hours shift at 6pm to 2am in the area around Pat Pong or other areas with slow moving third class traffic partners (pedestrian) you could easily show 30,000 people during the 8 hours, that you are able to drive a nice car with a/c running, while the suckers have to walk and sweat.

So if you split the 490, - Baht through 30,000 you only pay around 0.016 Baht per head.

Where else you can get so much fun and attention for a few bucks?

On weekends I would try the area around Chatuchak.

You should install one of this advertise boards on top of your car…

Something like:

Somchais Beauty School

Get a hairdresser :) diploma in just 3 weeks for 14,990 Baht

That way you could enjoy yourself and earn money at the same time.

Just kidding, I do like you ride – hope you have humor.

Push the Isuzu in town and it will read out something way below 8km/l. I reckon you could hit 5 or 6 so inverted, that is between 16 and 20 l/100km. Idling in traffic jams I don't know for sure.

In the city (in the US). Basically going from parking garage to buy supplies and back. Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.xL V8 - 4.6 IIRC. I used to have a 5.9L Grand Cherokee, and that was a torque monster, but I didn't care about petrol prices back then as it was some 10 years ago, petrol was about .99 cents USD/gallon. Those were the days! But I do recall petrol getting to over 2 USD/gallon in the city around the latter days of when I had that car...

On the freeway cruise at 82mph, I'll get about 15mpg - btw I think the MPG ratings for cars are totally out-dated because I think they use 55mph as the highway 'speed' don't they?

In Thailand I get 21L/100 kms in just about all of my SAABs (little 2.0L engines, albeit all turbocharged) in the city traffic, maybe 13L/100kms on long drives at about 140-160kph - tested once, if I drove 100kph it gave me about 9L/100kms.

In the Triton, about 14L/100 kms, all around, or at least that's what the computer says...

To be fair, I tend to drive without respect for fuel mileage :)

Went on the autobahn with 2 bike mag testers from the uk in 2002 ,we were averaging 170 mph, me on a hayabusa ,we were stopping every 35 mins for fuel,.cant rember the fuel tank capacity but i think it worked out 12 to the gallon, :)
