Fondue

Featured Replies

When I say fondue, I am not talking about cheese fondue; I am talking about meat, specifically beef, chicken, and pork, and homemade sauces and pickles. I haven't had one since my mate passed away a while back. My wife is always on shift work, and no point having it by myself. Does anybody like fondue?

You can buy packs and you just add white wine. I like it with bread, potatoes, ham.

Yes,

But I'm a bit dated on this.

I used to like the meat fondue at the swiss house restaurant at the top of soi Diamond, Pattaya.

But that was about 20 years ago.  don't think the place is still there. ?

Was ok food and price back then.

Fun days and nights in pattaya.

@quake I rented an apartment via that Swiss House restaurant many moons ago. 150 to 200 sq.m. beachfront. Didn't eat there. Used to eat Swiss food at Ma Maison on Soi 13.

Apologies for the thread diversion :sorry:

In Switzerland there is next to the cheese fondue 2 different kinds of (meat) fondue.

Fondue Chinoise (Chinese Fondue / Hot Pot)

Meat (thinly sliced beef, chicken, pork) and vegetables are cooked  in a simmering pot of flavorful broth (often vegetable or meat-based) placed on the table.

Nowdays clearly favoured in comparence to:

Fondue Bourguignonne (Burgundy Fondue)

Cubed red meat (beef) is skewered and deep-fried  in a simmering pot of hot oil. Also on the table.

You have to be more careful with this one as with the „chinoise“. Hot oil is much more „touchy“ incase the meat is watery.

For both kinds the most important are the different kinds of „dips“.

Recipes are for sure to be found on the net.

It's Shabu for white people.

Cooking my own food at the table is annoying. See also: Korean grill.

I like the Aka grill joints
