gguy
I need a new TV. My cable provider is Sophon Cable in Pattaya. Sophon provides an analog signal with signal quality varying by channel from good to marginal. Should I waste my money on a new digital lcd tv? I have read several articles that indicate analog signals on a digital TV degrade picture quality.
filingaccount
Generally speaking an LCD TV is worse that an CRT TV with 480i signals. 720p, 1080i and 1080p is where LCD TV's shine. Of course an LCD TV have other advantages, like weight, no flickering and it's more future proof. Also they are fairly inexpensive. The older 32" (720p) models go for as little as 15,000 Baht. In any case, my own personal opinion, get an LCD TV.
noudb
It actually depends on the LCD tv itself, I have a Toshiba 32" which manages to filter the bad or moderate pictures in such a way that it comes very close to what a CRT would do. Simply bring a VCD with horrible picture quality with you and test it on the tv before you buy this will give you quite an idea how your cable signal would look.
