Ptt "shaping A Better Environment"

Featured Replies

Just watched some "infomercial" from PTT showing people cleaning the beaches and planting trees???? I wonder how long this will last or maybe it will catch on?? Maybe they should have showed what the place wa s like after the film crew had finished, they probably dumped all their rubbish on the set :):D

The Thai people has also known about the particular evilness of PTT. (wierd sentence, 5 5 5) For instance, just observe the difference between domestic gasoline price and the global price, through out since 2 years ago.

And so another conspiracy theroy starts.... :)

Having worked for both PTT and PTTEP years ago, even then programs where in place for planting trees, enviromental clean ups etc all paid for by PTT, In addtion PTTEP has a major stock holding by TOTAL, so there are many influences which make them operate the same as other international oil companies...

There are only two main players in Thailand, the one mentioned above and an American oil company, and both undertake enviromental programs etc etc...

The cynics among you may say its all lip service, you may be right, you could say they should be doing more, you could be right

...but at the end of the day they are doing something, which is more can be said for the majority of farangs living in Thailand, whinging on about everything and never getting off their ar*e and doing something...

I am not trying to say oil/gas companies are angels....they are certainly not, I am not that naive, but as I work in the Oil and gas business in Thailand, have seen first hand some of the programs both companies mentioned above have put in place..and yes maybe they could a bit more...

Let's see...would those be the same farangs who aren't even allowed to volunteer because they don't have a work permit? Serious question: Any ideas of what us old duffers can do that *won't* put us in jeapordy of being summarily ejected from this fine country?

Why do you need to volunteer formally, A number of posters have openly stated on TV, that they been on the beaches near Ban Chang and picked up rubbish and encouraged local Thai's to do same, its simple things like that....you could start closer to home, dont know if you live in a Condo complex or house, but there are things you could be doing in the local area..

I understand the concerns Re work permit, but lets face it, if you are cutting the grass or pushing a shopping trolley in Tesco's, this could be interpreted as "work" as well in Thailand...

If you are really serious, need to talk to your local Pu Yai, or other person of influence with your ideas and pretty sure you will not be getting any visits from your local BiB and summarily ejected for doing things for the benefit of the local community..

OMG...I am starting to sound like a tree hugger... :) ...I am an oil and gas man, not suppose to like trees...

hmm,

evil PTT say the consipracy theorist.

Even though they flew here in a plane post likely fueled by PTT, drive around using PTT refined petrol, on roads funded by PTT paid taxes (as one the biggest listed company in Thailand), drinking their Coke out of a bottle made by PTT pretrochem products..

Yes, darn evil companies. Where do you reckon they get all their money from?

Quite common for petroleum companies to try to appear "green". Unfortunately, if/when the oils runs out, or at least becomes uneconomical, it will be the same people who control the technology that replaces it.

1. It's not our country, but we are willing to help

2. If Thai's don't care, we don't even start.

3. It has to come from the Thai's themselves at first

4. Farang is willing to help Thailand for the better, but Thai have to change attitude first.
