My wife and I are planning on moving to Koh Samui early in 2010 (thanks so much to everyone who has replied to other posts, we have been busy researching living costs and the best types of visa).

We have spent two months in Thailand in the last two years and stayed in numerous hotels... so we know the preferred type of mattress in Thailand is HARD.

Are there many places on Samui where we will be able to buy a soft mattress? The one we have now in Australia is a Posturepedic, soft, with a pillow top made out of latex.

Also, will the prices for soft mattresses be about the same as in Australian (over AU$1,000 for a good one)?

There is a latex mattress shop among the shophouses on left side before entering Choengmon. (coming from Chaweng)

and a new one, just past Bandara, Bophut-Maenam

And another one in Lamai. Yes you can buy a soft mattress here.
