sabaijai
Enough about burgers, pizza and Mexican food. It's chili time ... Passing this on from Roadhouse Barbecue. I have no association with the contest. ------------ Chili cook-off season is upon us and we will find out who has the best Chili in Bangkok. You can join the fun and excitement at the American Picnic on July 4th Trophies are awarded from the professional judges and the people’s choice award is always a strongly contested event. The cooking teams traditionally have the most fun and with awards for the best looking Chili Booth. Anyone may enter as an Individual, Company, Professional Chef, Hotel, Restaurant or Association. The last contest I had the opportunity to Judge was won by a Law Firm. The name of their Chili was “Jail Break Chili” All this entertaining and we hope to help the lives of many people in our community by donating all the proceeds to The American Chamber of Commerce Charitable Foundation. The Cookoff will have Chili Tasting Kits for the public to try the chili and entertainment along with fun and games for kids. Of course at the Picnic there will be traditional Hot dogs, Hamburgers, BBQ Ribs and Coca-Cola. JUDGING CRITERIA Competition chili will be blind judged on the following five criteria: AROMA - Chili should smell good. CONSISTENCY - Chili should be a good balance of meat and gravy. The meat should be tender, but not mushy. RED COLOR - Chili should look good and the color should range from reddish to reddish brown. Shades of “gray, black, pink, or camouflage” are unappealing, as is excess grease. TASTE - Chili should taste good. Judges believe that an excellent tasting chili will always stand out. AFTERTASTE - Chili should leave a pleasant after taste. A chili pepper “after bite” is permitted, but the degree of heat is a matter of personal preference.
