".....In America, as in Europe, cases of infertility in animals fed with genetically modified maize are becoming increasingly common. No-one yet knows what effects such products are having on humans...."

My point.

Maizefarmers post is excellent and is swaying me towards the commercial argument aswell as my biological argument.

Monsanto is an evil corporation for sure. But more evil are the American politicians that continue to allow the Naziesce practises of Monsanto and allow them to have laws created to protect the corporation that are contrary to the common good of the people.

Considering the unknown effects on future generations I think a lot of farmers have jumped into the GM pool way to early. And more independent research should be done before it's to late.

Ah, so it is only the evil American politicians which are to blame here, right? What about the politicians of the other 159 countries where Monsanto has applied for patents?

This whole patent on decoded DNA is totally ridiculous, in my humble opinion, and public awareness of it will probably force a change in policy. Regardless, I really doubt too many farmers in France or Mexico are going to pony up and send Monsanto a check each time their sows give birth to a litter.

...........)...and when the genie is out of the bottle, there is no way of putting it back.

It is, after all, fiddling with evolution.

Have we not been fiddling with evolution for thousands of years by selective breeding?

Well one is the horror szenario and the alternative?

maybe everybody has enough to eat, never gets sick anymore and once we have achieved that - whilst fiddling with evolution - the accomplished comes to haunt mankind as overpopulation, the rat race gets tougher, maybe humans will start to colonize as hundreds of years foreign land, far away planets.... who da heck knows and who da heck cares?..... the haunt continues...
