Tot Broadband Slow After 6pm Or Non Exsistant!

I have noticed that TOT broadband seems fine during the day but once it gets past 6pm the speed seems to cut in half and it just goes off all the time. This could be because more people are on line but I have only had this problem over the last 6 weeks or so, anyone else experiencing anything similar?

I live in Sankamphaeng (Chiang Mai) with TOT 4 Mb/s. I've had problems for the last few days. First it runs slow then keeps cutting out and restarting. I've been on to TOT ( phone 1100 then 9 for English) and they say that because there was a long holiday it might take a few days to sort. I'm hoping they'll fix it today. This morning ( 8.00 am) working fine. It seems to get slow once the kids get out from school and start playing silly games in internet cafes; a bandwidth problem?.

I have the same problem since this week.Cutting off all the time especially after 4 pm.If I go to my modem settings I will also notice that my line noise margin drops to 8-9 db from 26 db and my upload speed is advertised as 190 Kb or some other odd number while it supposed to be 512 Kb.This is in Pattaya.

Yes experiencing the same problem, on & off, on & off in evening. TIT, nothing you can do about it but grumble and go on line in morning, do other things at night, have fun.

Calling to the help line just brings the robotic response that the supervisor has been advised of your problem.

Does anyone know the REAL REASON that the internet in Thailand no matter what service you are on is so bad?

Pick one choice:

1. Over selling of services

2. Old equipment

3. Total misunderstanding of what "service" means

4. Must control the internet

5. Make up a new excuse

Most of the problems are down to the equipment they use. Also fiber networks would be far better but more costly to establish.

I live in Nonthaburi, have seen a very slight reduction in speed, but the TOT Exchange is not that far away from me.

There's indeed something wrong. Downstream should always be higher than upstream...

For about 3 weeks my TOT ADSL connection has been dropping many times per hour--around 20-50 times! Impossible to stream a video.

I have called the central customer service office repeatedly over the last three weeks. No result, no technician visit, no return phone call, nothing.

Told them that after 7 years of being their customer, I am looking at a move to a different provider. Didn't seem to phase them.

FWIW I am in northern Thailand and my TOT line does this - that is, it's fine in the morning and near useless in the evening from about 6 - midnight. I now use CAT CDMA in the evening which runs at normal speed.

Had similar for a few weeks, indeed sometimes had to modem on off several times per hour. This last week it seemed OK.

Had a technician here once and he did something and now my phoneline is dead...... :)

T. O. T.

Totally Obsolete Technology.

:D:):D

110 % correct.

I was down to the TOT Service Center and this is what I was told:

"You are downloading too much stuff and when you do that there is no bandwidth left. We can not fix your problem, you need to use the internet less."

That is it, I am finished with TOT bullshit excuses.

Going to find another provider but the problem is who is any better?

When I lived on the island of Samui I has a STEADY 1024 down 24/7.

ON AN ISLAND WHICH HAS A CABLE FROM THE MAINLAND UNDER THE OCEAN!!!

And yet here in the big city you might as well send you emails on the back of a cockroach, they will get there faster!!

I am with ToT and Last tuesday at 6pm I was cut off for 15mins completely then it returned at half speed and less .  Sunday for maybe 2 hours I had 3/4 speed.  Tonite it went out a 6PM just got it back and its around 40kbs.  Just great.

I just upgraded a month ago because it seemed to be working but 30 days later its crap again just like all of last year was.  Going to downgrade in the morning no excuse for this.  They need to sell internet off of ToT to a real company that gives a damm.

Back over to the CAT office also, I am going to get options and cancel this worthless crap.

I had a voip phone with them for a year and made only one call in all that time and it was hardly working.  They can't even do phone service why are they even allowed in the internet.  This is nothing more then a crime in progress.

                             T.O.T                Totally out of Touch

Live in Pathum Thani and use True. I have noticed a slowdown over the past few weeks. Last night sucked so bad I called a friend in the USA to have him check out some pages I loaded on my site because I wasn't sure if the reason they were failing to load was due to something in the code or the connection. He said they loaded in seconds so I guess we know what the problem was. Today it wasn't too bad, but now it is slowing down. I also notice that I often get redirected to the True page and have to click 2 or 3 times to get a page open. Very frustrating.

i am not an expert so please forgive me if any of this is incorrect

adsl shares bandwidth more users mean slower speeds

i live out in the sticks most people cannot afford home adsl so use internet cafes thus slow (sometimes) daytime fast nighttime

if you live in BKK or a large city with lots of net cafes or home users around you share the overall bandwidth

i do experience cutouts this morning and last night where slow - sometimes i cannot even connect

when i had 1mb i was getting .75

when i had 2mb i was getting about 1.5

now i am on 3mb and i get an amazing 2.2mb

this is through nttp with good servers and the speed does not fluctuate much

The past 3 weeks here where I am in Pattaya TOT has been very consistent. No internet connection from 9am to midnight. constant dropping off line from 7am to 9am. My download speed for files during good times is now 5 kps prior to this fiasco I got 50-60. Only on the 1mb plan. But a total rip off.

A miracle happened, after going to the TOT service outlet near my home I had a Thai friend complain about the poor service and there was a very heated exchange of words. The next day there were two TOT trucks infront of the house and a crew of guys here to change the lines and "make perfect". I asked the one guy I knew if I was going to get 3Mb as advertized, he smiled and said "maybe 1mb but steady". It goes to show you that if you do complain long enough they will work it out but you have to have alot of patience.

Hi

I live in a village near Phimai. (korat) I use TOT ipstar. Virtualy non existant during the day Mon/Fri, after 5.30 fine Sat/Sun fine all day??????????? I can only assume it is when company's close down? :)

I have the 'benefit' of both True and TOT basic internet.

They are both poor, but True is particularly bad, and getting worse.

TOT although slow seems more reliable, but yes very slow at times, and the service can go for an hour.

True will just do your head in, I think it has problems with it's gateways- you might be unlucky enough not to be able to access basic websites without getting network error messages.

That's been happening for the last 3 days for me. It goes in cycles. I call a technician, then miraculously an hour before he gets here, my internet is back to standard. Then over the course of the next 4 weeks it degrades again. Slowly, that is. My torrents have never suffered, though. Always downloading at a steady 420/kbps.

I thought I was paranoid when I noticed the same situation with my line. Now I know it's not me.

My internet connection is so slow now and the service often fails, so I guess TOT like TRUE, has big problems. Basically, I just think the sysytem can not cope with demand at all.

If all of you here in Thailand just disconnect and go and do something useful instead of surfing the net all day and downing porn movies, I then can finally watch some youtube clips.

Thanks!

My TOT lines seem to be down constant dropping off line from 1700 to 0700 the next day… everyday since last week. I did a SpeedTouch Connectivity Test and to my surprised, I do not have a fix IP Address…

Each test show different IP address…

125.26.89.60

125.26.84.148

125.26.89.32

125.26.93.40

125.26.86.214

125.26.89.33

125.26.94.241

125.26.82.110

125.26.94.176

What is happening?

You can read the topic about my problems with TOT here.Today alone I've been disconnected about 163 times, that's since 9 O'clock this morning.I got so angry that I stormed into the local office and catched a manager on duty, believe when I say stormed think about a hurricane.

Tomorrow, yes on sunday, the gonna replace the last 80 meters of the cable to my house.I saw the manager writing the order for the order for the job an handing it over to the boss of the technicians.

Probably it will end up same as the past 2 years.Same same.
