Mitsubishi parts are very hard to find, models over 5 years old it is almost impossible to find new parts. sure there are lots about so 2nd hand part are an option, as are the 'copies'..

Ford and Mazda parts are available but expensive, likewise Volvo part and cheaper than Ford.

Saab, there is a very good Club here + a couple of places that service/upgrade/repair and have a vast stock of parts, check out the Saab Club website.

Depends what goes wrong. there is a very good man in BKK [friend of a friend for 20years] that will repair anything electrical + car air condition specialist ... had a problem last month with the climate control unit in my Audi A6, Garage said it could not be repaired and a new one would cost 19,000 + with fitting over 21,000baht. drove the car to BKK left it 2 days he repaired/rewired the unit and it works as normal for 1,450 baht..

i'm driving old lancer 1993 for over 2 years. nice condition and any garage can fix it.

one poster said new parts are not available for old lancer but i don't understand why would anybody buy new parts for such an old car?

for example, i changed the valve once which cost me 3000 baht 2nd hand. new one would cost about 20,000 baht. It's perfectly running.

however, plenty of parts available for mitsu lancer. Even there are garage dedicated only for mitsu lancer. There are many online club such as www.lancer-club.net and http://www.mlrthailand.com.

...it happens many times since some of the topics "never die"....go ahead and chip in smile.png

I've had some experience with older second hand cars and as long as you can't call anything "old" reliable, there is a big difference in shape and condition between cars,if you're careful and have it checked by a mechanic, you may just get lucky....
