Engine Conversion 400 Cc Dragstar

Featured Replies

Mechanic has offered to convert my 400 Drag Star to a 750 CC can this be done?

How difficult is it to put a 1100 CC Drag Star engine and transw into a 400 CC frame and what else need to be converted.

I like my 400 but it is just underpowered I'm not a fast rider but I do need power to pass

I'm novice to this so I don't have a clue

Thanks guys any advice is appreciated.

Ray. I think the 750 is ok as its pretty much the same bottom end. The 1100 i think is a no no.

With the 750 your going to need the cdi, carbs and pipes. If your mechanic sez yes should be a doer. Depends how much its all gonna come to. at least you can sell ya old engine etc.

It's going to be 40K he ha only mentioned changing the pistons, but communication is a problem, He says he can do it, for two years he has never missed on anything he has told me.

Thanks

Ray engine out, engine in ok. anything else forget it. the 750 will use different cdi, carbs and pipes. Also on checking the internet it seems that the Dragstar was a 650. You gain about 7hp but a lot more torque lower down.

Sounds to me like he plans to use the Yamaha Virago engine 15hp and shit loads of torque.
