These Thai crooks always seem to grass up the second theyre arrested, do the BIB use techniques of persuasion that would be very difficult to do here in dreary England.

Yes they certainly do! That's also why they all confess, guilty or not.

good grief, they really did give that guy a savage beating? this is nothing new down there. saw some police making a report and

interviewing the locals in the area. glad the cops are making arrests. but still, this is happening down there every week or so

and these people are all known offenders so it does raise the question, why the <removed> are they still doing it? that beach scene is

dangerous, most of the girls being pimped by their thai "boyfriends" there's always muggings or some drunken tourist getting

beaten up at 3am. i know the police have been making routine sweeps off the beach. jeeeeez, clean the place up a little.

Pattaya, July 20 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Some people may not know that Pattaya has a Tourist Emergency Relief Fund. Money is donated by private individuals and companies to the fund which is to be used for Tourists who become the victims of serious crimes. Last week we reported on a serious assault of a French Tourist on Pattaya Beach which resulted in severe facial injuries. Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya heard about the case and decided the Emergency Fund should be used on this occasion. On Monday Afternoon at Pattaya Police Station he oversaw a presentation of 25,000 Baht made to the Tourist, Mr. Preveppe who explained that he was extremely pleased with the way Pattaya Police conducted the operation which has already resulted in the arrest of three of six suspects. He also thanked the Mayor for the donation and confirmed that he would return to Pattaya from Korat Province, where he lives with his family and will not allow this incident to put him off from coming here.

Oh, I see. He initially lost 5,000 euros in the mugging but the police only possibly recovered 500 from the one thug who was trying

to change it at the currency exchange. Could be all avoided in future if they would get serious about cleaning up the beach area.

Yes, the story starts turning a little bizarre. Apparently he's visiting from Korat. Why in the h_ll he doesn't know better than to walk around

with that much cash is anyone's guess. I passed through this area on the beach across from best friend complex this evening. Absolutely

littered with derelicts as always. We can expect a repeat occurence of this as long as they continue to ignore the original problem.

Hear, hear.........and what I was thinking.......there is always something behind a story. In this case: NOT a first tourist to Thailand, but maybe just only Pattaya. Very clever of the mayor to replace the THB 25,000..........it will stay in Thailand, so probably 7% will return to the government anyway.
