I flew in during the height of the SARS scare, transiting through Taiwan. Since I had transited a country that had SARS I was given a booklet to take to the dr to be checked out. 3 visits over a period of 9 days (I think, could have been more, could have been less). First time I went to the dr, he asked me "Are you coughing?" "no" was my answer. "Do you have a fever?" "no" again. "OK" and he signed off on my book. According to my husband, I had gotten "the drunk doctor". So, I got the other two checkups and was fine.

Nobody ever took my book off me. Fast forward a year, am leaving Thailand for my annual trip home. Check up book is in my passport. Immigration doesn't take it. So, before I board, I ask the airline clerk what I was supposed to do with it. "Souvenir?" she suggested.

it is the latest promotion by TAT, designed to demonstrate the exclusivity of Thailand, those wonderful deserted beaches, easy to get tables at your favourite resturant and no problems with booking hotel rooms or asking for a change of room if you dont like the one you have been allocated :)

Yes Thailand is closing.

Will the last person to leave, please turn out the lights. :)

But if they do, won't they have to re-name it Burma?

I ask a question and I didn't ask for stupid answer. Maybe it was a bad question but my english is not so good.

I have heard that the school is closing, and my friend said that the gourvement talked about not letting more people enter thailand. Thats way I asked if thailand was "closing".

My friend also talled me that she was afraid to go to school because of the swine flu.

It is only closing between 12pm and 5pm. Unless you are in a group of more than 10 people, then you may enter during those hours.

Yes, the government did, in fact, consider closing Thailand off to all tourism.

That plan is still on the table. But it is an emergency plan related to the pandemic.

Later it was publicly stated that there was no need to close Thailand at this time.

What they will do in the future..........no person knows.

But closing the country to tourism will not do anything to stop the pandemic.

Yes, this is absolutely correct.

Thailand has not yet closed it’s borders and except for a few school closures for a 5 day period in Bangkok, everything is operating as normal.

No one knows as yet what future actions the Thai Government has planned regarding this influenza AH1N1 epidemic.

My advice is to monitor the media each day for AH1N1 news reports, including ThaiVisa

I do apologise for the idiots on here that is quite embarrassing and hope that the moderators will delete their posts.

Is this the extent of your vocabulary, or do you have some physical or mental disability preventing it?

From what I gathered.

If you have the symtoms of the swine flu or any <deleted> flu whilst entering LOS you will be quarantined.

How dare they close Thailand,I'm not there yet. 1 month to go :) .

Isn't the flu already here?

It's too late to shut it out, so I hope that this idea is shelved.

Government may be able to control the movements of its people to a degree, but a flu virus will run its own course.

Maybe it would be more constructive to open separate hospital centres for people who think that they may have the virus. If you have to go to the hospital to be checked for the virus, you are possibly introducing it to an environment packed full of people, many in a weakened state from other illnesses.

But the prices will go up, because single customer of the hotel/restaurant should pay all that 20 customer would have paid :D
