Kan To Bkk

Featured Replies

Hi there, four of us will be taking an express bus from Kanchanaburi to Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal then a taxi to the airport to catch a flight back home all within one day....Is there by anywhere along the journey which is nearer to the airport where we can drop off and take a a taxi.

What about the mini-vans from Kan do they take paxs to the airport. Or is there a better option..

BTW the new Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal..is it called SAI TAI TALING CHAN or MAI SAI TALING CHIN...Advice appreciated... :)

It's called Sai Tai Mai. Probably the safest bet is metered taxi from there to the airport.

As for other options from Kan, ask at your hotel or a travel agent about a mini bus.

I've done the same trip many times. Traffic is the only thing that will slow you down. If you take the express bus it only takes about 2 hours depending on the traffic. Once at the bus terminal it might take another hour to get to the airport if traffic is heavy. Usually the taxis can bypass the worst of the downtown traffic by taking the expressway. That was the problem with the old southern bus station... you were stuck in the down town city traffic. You MIGHT save a half hour if you hire a taxi from Kanchanaburi all the way to the airport, but not much more.

I agree, the traffic sucks.

If you can speak any Thai, try to get the driver to take Krung Thon bridge from the bus station, it will take you along Ratchwithi Road, then turn right on PhraRam 5 or Sawankhalok to get to Phitsanulok which will take you to the expressway. That way, you'll be a little more north of the worst traffic in Pinklao and the old city centre.

There is a direct minibus to the airport. If you go to KTC on river road (called the strip) where the guesthouses and bars are they will get you on it
