We're looking for a Golden Retriever Puppy, but we're not sure where to start? We're based on here Samui.

We were told JJ Market in BKK always has them, however I've also heard this is not a good place to get them.

We're also wondering what the procedure would be for bringing the puppy back on the flight down here.

Any advice is appreciated.

If you are going to JJ market, try to bring a vet with you. Dogs at JJ will be much cheaper and may well be in excellent health, but you never know.

For pedigreed dogs, there are some breeders you can find on the internet near Bangkok, but breeders specialize in pedigreed dogs and they are more expensive.

One thing you could do is check out the vets section (in TV) and see if they know of anyone whose female has recently had a litter.

Put an ad in the Phuket Gazette. Seems I see more and more golden retrievers here all the time.

Really good dogs but too much hair, in this climate they'll be a shedding nightmare. I prefer a shot haired golden labrador.

Also, be careful about hip displacer, check the parents if you can, tends to happen with too much inbreeding.

We went with a Labrador Retriever from great-labrador in the end. 8 )
