A man committed suicide last night here in Udon.

His funeral and cremation is today, less than 24 hours after his death.

Is this normal protocol for a suicide?

The reason I'm asking is that all the people that I knew who have died here in Thailand, the mourning period (monks chanting at the house every night, etc.) was anywhere from a few days to week, before the funeral and cremation.

I live up in Isaan, and my wife couldn´t answer me WHY, but she confirmed that they cremate the suicidels

quickly.

My own thought (just guessing) is that this is based on exactly the same instinc/value that we in west have about these

things. The Family is not especially proud over a suicide amongst them
