July 23, 200916 yr Hi I'm trying to teach my class some English songs. I'm lucky to have the use of a video projector. Does anyone know where (in LOS) to get a karaoke version of ABBA's song "Thank you for the music" or just the plain video on DVD? I've tried connecting to the internet via the school computer but the content on YouTube is blocked due to "copyright reasons." I did find one excellent karaoke of Cliff Richard singing "Summer Holiday" at youtube: /watch?v=rsm4ykxjQ24&NR=1 Thai kids are very much into "audio visual" entertainment, so this method of getting them to sing along ("sa-peak") in English will worker better than anything else. I've used sound recordings but they don't have the same impact as video. Any help appreciated.
July 23, 200916 yr I found a video of their hits, and I think some songs have karaoke words scrolling in English. Try the usual pirate outlets
July 29, 200916 yr You can download the youtube movie through www.keepvid.com Teaching English through songs is very useful. But why don't you start of with some easier stuff. Kathleen Graves and Mark Hancock have both written very useful books that come with an audio CD. Hancock's book is called singing grammar. Excellent! I can't remember Graves' book. It's not Icon. She wrote that together with Donald Freeman and Susan Lee. All very smart people but my god the book is useless. We used to do all sorts of karaoke stuff with our university students. I had them bring in all the material. They are way better at finding that stuff then I am. Good luck!
July 29, 200916 yr I regularly download YouTube videos through YouTube catcher for the students. Even if YouTube is blocked you might still be able to download these videos. The url for a version of that song with lyrics is; www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA14pvtjDsE""]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA14pvtjDsE[/url] IJWT: I know that you said not to paste live links here, but I don't know how to make them dead! I can't say that I envy your students with your music taste.
