My tourist visa expires soon and I was planning on doing the normal Penang trip but have just been told that it may not be possible. Spoke to NJbookshop in Penang they said "maybe, no promises". Spoke to Herbert (famous/infamous visa run agent) who said it is not possible for me get one anywhere in Asia.

Some of the posts here are saying that it is still possible elsewhere eg KL and Vientiane, but to go all the way to one of these places it would be nice to know if they are definitely issuing visas there for people like me.

Does anyone have any concrete information about this from the last few days?

Best bet is Vientianne, where you can even get double entry tourist visas.

So far Only Penang refuses to give a tourist visa if you already got one there, Khoto Baru seesm also difficult. Don't know about KL.

Good luck wherever you go and hope you get one......there are probably thousands like you, I am guessing you already have three previous so have stayed in Thailand a while and spent a considerable amount of money.....just supposing you and also the others in your position cant get one...what will you do....go spend your money somewhere else probably...another nail in the Thai economy for no other reason than stupidity

Im going another route and getting a different type of visa instead. It will cost me a bit more but definitely save me money and headache in the future, unfortunately most people won't be able to do this.

Those people caught off guard by this can still do a border bounce (or 2) and get a 2 week stamp (or a month if you fly), right? Its not ideal but it will give you time to find out exactly whats happening and arrange an alternative.

What is this other route you're going to take? Be careful as there are a number of illegal visa routes on offer and they can backfire.

Hi all----Later this year I will be travelling in and out of bangkok airport 3 maybe 4 times over a period of 3 months.

My question is----will this back to back visa or 3 stamp rule apply to me--as I will be flying overseas on each trip ---and if so--what length of time is required before it is deemed to be not back to back.

I have looked for the answer on TV..but could not see it here.. can some-one help or point me in the right direction if the answer is on this forum

I am eligible for the 30 day visa on arrival stamp

Thanks--Bucko

There is no limit. obnly the consul in Penang and Khoto bahru will not give tourist visa's back to back, others will.

Each time arriving by airplane you will, depending on your nationality, get a permission to stay for 30 days. (If you arrive by land transport only 15 days). So if you are from a western country and don' stay longer then 30 days, you don't need a visa.

But you do need proof htat you wil not stay longer than 30 days in the form of a ticket out of the country. If you stay longer than 30 days you will need a tourist visa.
