It's quite simple. The promo tickets are limited based on percentage of load vs bookings. It is the same on nearly all airlines. so, you may book a single and get a promo rate , while booking 3 runs past the cutoff point. Just book single till that rate runs out.

Your logic would be fine except that it is not true. You see the same problem with some hotel websites where the different dates have different prices but where a longer stay is priced as the number of days required times the highest price for any of those days. Marriott used to do this and I threatened to sue (not saying I changed their corporate policy all by myself !).

I'd guess the issue with plane seats is that there needs to be a specific seat sale. Hotels now usually tell you but you see the consolidated price and can average it out of you want (some websites do this for you) but on a plane, I'm not sure you could have an averaged price which no seat cost. For sure it could be done but it is either poor design or just another tactic used to screw passengers.

For low cost, you have to go through a load of permutations to check that you are pricing it the best way. In the UK, the national rail website has to tell you that booking two singles might be cheaper than a return because they screw so many over this.

For promotions the airline has set a certain quota for seats....maybe for your case the quota has been taken up..why not you try to book separately ...and see how....

I just tried again for 12Oct. at 10;45 anf for 3 passengers it is 90b each more than for 1, not a lot of money and it just might be worth it not to have to book 3 seperate times :)

I tend to agree with the scam explanation.

Yes, you'll probably pay more than 90b in credit card surcharges for each booking, aside from how much you value your time.

I have flown with Air Asia more than 30 times, and still think they are fantastic value for money (I wouldn't go long-haul withthem though!). Definitely some flaws in the system though. We are always charged extra for our check-in luggage on the Bangkok - Phuket route, but never on Bangkok - Nakhon Sri Thammarat. Really not sure if it's a company policy or if the staff are more inclined to extort money from people going to touristic places.

of course you would, you are in Thailand - so you are being scammed for sure right??

Never mind airline inventory control as an explanation.

Too right mate :D All i was wondering was why 3 individuals seats are more expensive each than 1 seat.

I still havent found out why , would you like to expand on the reason you put forward?

Yes I agree , I have never had any real problems , the odd delay but for the price they are ok.

I do not fancy long haul with them either.
