my 11 and 5 yr olds are now out of school and i was thinking of taking a road trip up to pi, to so some water rafting and possibly camp out which i have heard is possible to do there, can i just show up or should i book something in advance? Any suggestions on places or guides to be kitted out.

If you're heading up in the rainy season, there's no need to book, unless there's a Thai holiday maybe.

We went last year and it was ghost town in June and there we're some good deals with free dinner at hotels. There was a local paper in English which I found in town (in a shop next to 7/11) with some adverts, so I guess, just head there and see where it takes you. Soory I can't be more specific regarding camping.
