Phuket & Krabi Airports statistics for 6 months to June 2009 show 13 & 16% decreases.

The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited, which manages Phuket International Airport, have confirmed to Andaman News about their latest statistics for the first 6 months of the year 2009. They showed a total of 18,402 aircraft movements, down 14.65% from the same period in 2008. In June 2009 alone, there were 2,617 movements down 7.10%. The total numbers of arriving, departing and transit passengers in the first 6 months of the year, was 2,800,790 showing a decrease of 13.28% compared to the same 6 months in 2008: in June 2009 alone there were 341,923 passengers down 8.60%. The total freight in the first half of the year showed 8,869 tonnes in and out, a 10.81% decrease. In June 2009 alone there were 1,130 tonnes, down 9.60%.

Meanwhile Krabi International Airport, under the Civil Aviation Department, also reported its first 6 months figures, with a total of 2332 aircraft movements or a 23.69% decrease compared to 2008: The total numbers of passengers arriving and departing, with no transits, was 338,109 showing a decrease of 16.38% compared to the same 6 months in 2008: The total freight showed 797,513 kilograms in and out, a 5.37% decrease.
