July 31, 200916 yr The Unesco has registered 35 new items on the Memory of the World Register, including the royal archives of Thailand. Khunying Manmart Chavalit, president of the Memory of the World Register committee of Thailand said that the decision was made when the international committee met in Barbados from July 29 to 31. She said the archives included documents on the abolition of slavery in Siam, former name of Thailand and domestic and international policies during King Rama V reign which had helped Thailand sail through the difficult period. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/news/30108...ed-as-the-Memor -- The Nation 31/07/09
July 31, 200916 yr Though I couldn't discount the importance and worthiness of the Royal Thai Archives to any history collectition.....I would trust that this historic content ins't look upon as a standard for Siam/Thailand. Variety and diversity is quite important as historiography is concerned.
July 31, 200916 yr Has the UK added its archives on the Tudors to this World Register? I might suggest it to the sports and culture minister, the Rt Hon Ben Bradshaw MP.
