I can hardly believe that several google attempts could not find an explanation and program to do this.

I have a set of Videos encoded to .avi files, and need to put in my own subtitles (written by me). Anyone have experience with this, and hopefully a free program for it.

Seems to be just adding subtitles that have been ripped from elsewhere. I need to write my own from scratch. Great site though - lots of good stuff in there.

I use Subtitle Workshop from http://www.urusoft.net.

This should do the job.
