I have difficulty determining the difference between Gik and a GF. My current started out as a GF and now says she is a GIK. She also serves as a Mia Noi (she says) to a high so Thai man. Most of relationships with Thai women are fraught with problems, mostly about money. They never stop asking for more.

Oddly I have a Thai friend who did exactly this - set a one year time limit and at end of year they all swapped back.

The secret to having a gik is to have one that is married. That way you can blow the whistle if her demands get beyond her station. Always worked for me.
