jobounce
Hello! I have a 7 year old daughter who was born out of marriage. I am now married to her mother and would like to get a British passport for my daughter. I am named as the father on her birth certificate but she has her mothers maiden surname. I have read the British embassy website and know what forms to get etc but I would be grateful for any information from anybody who has gone through a similar experience. Thanks! Mario2008
If the mother is Thai and you married in Thailand, you have legitimised the child under Thai law. I believe that under UK law there is also no problem getting a passport UK for your daughter. If the mother is indeed Thai, I sugegst getting also a Thai passport for your daughter. Both countries allow dual nationality. I'm sure some of our members can talk you better through the process then I, so I will leave it up to them. shaunoro
It is best to get UK passport for children before they are 6 months old. My friend was in a similar circumstance as you. He filled out all the forms from UK embassy but was told it would take time. It has to be approved by UKhome office. Be prepared to jump through some hoops made of red tape. Castor83
Doing a similar thing for my son in September. Do you have a british birth certificate for your daughter? Have a look at this page http://ukinthailand.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for...egister-birth1/
