Problem With Gmail Smtp

Featured Replies

I use Gmail SMTP for all my outgoing mail.

ISP is Maxnet.

Since early morning I have been unable to send mail and get the following type of message_

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'TEST', Account: 'BapakDon', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Pop3 and other internet activities are okay..

Advice welcome.

Just tested to a hotmail account using same port 587 and working normal.

But I am using TRUE

I had a similar problem [still do occasionally] with my alumni mail server.

I am with True and I called them. They fixed it so I could connect but

the problem came back a few days later. So now I forward from

that account. Groan .... TIT.

Call Maxnet and see if they can connect for you.

Worth a try.

Good luck

Do you run Vista? Does this error occur with Windows Live mail?

Which mail client do you use?

Several reasons can cause this error. Please provide more information

You could try sending out of Maxnets SMTP server: smtp.tttmaxnet.com

Some ISP's prevent you from using other SMTP servers, I don't know if this is the case or not, maybe a new policy or just a technical error on your part :S

Try it one time with port 465 (for testing)

please report back if the same error message comes up

Most third party security software causes problem with

Windows Live Mail, especially McAfee and Norton.

Have you one of these products installed?

Thanks all.

It appears that MaxNet, in their wisdom and for some unknown reason, blocked outging mail. Even when I changed to their smtp. After a rather noisy phone call, outgoing mail suddenly came good.
