TT&T came and activated my ADSL line today Premier 2mb/1mb. I logged onto the router and SNR Margin was 13.2/15.0 down/up respectively, connection was stable, but I couldnt understand why they had given me about 10metres of internal cable when my router only required 1.5metres, anyway they did, wound it up and place a cable tie on it. I thought this wasn't such a good idea so armed with a stanley knife and cross head screw driver I reduce it to 1.6metres, wired up the inside terminal box and plugged in my router... CRAP

SNR margin is now 6.2/15.0

Perhaps there is a reason why they give excess interior cable, as on reflection TOT did the same the other month.

Any thoughts? =

I would check your terminal connection and make sure they are good - that is where you normally have problems. If you using phone connections just pushing in/out a time or two can make a big difference. I suspect the extra cable was so you would not fool around with extra connections if you moved your computer.
