Hotel Or Guesthouse In Vientiane- Close To Thai Embassy

Hi all, any recomendations for a nice clean 400-600baht hotel or guesthouse in Vientiane, fairly close to the Thai embassy, with A/C? I also want decent wi-fi, in room would be good, but in the lobby only is ok. Cheers.

Reports are suggesting there is nothing much around the consulate and is maybe better to stay in town and take local transport to the consulate. have a look at this thread ... Report

Have been up there a few times and don't recall anything close to the embassy as to guest houses. That is a high dollar area. Just go downtown by the river and check the row of gHouse. There are about 5 or 6 and I found a nice ac room in only 2 that were clean,. It is a five minute 1-2 buck trip to the embassy by taxi. Forget the wifi. 300-500 baht range.

Try the fish alfresco on the river at sunset.
