stevehaigh
i missed my train to Surat from Hua Lampong because of bad (usual) traffic in BKK. however, i had an idea in case that happens again: it takes about 40 mins for the train to get from Hua Lampong to Bang Bamru station because it has to do a big loop north first up to Bang Su Junction. Hua Lampong to Bang Bamru is only about 7km so it should be possible to do that in a taxi in 20-30mins even if the traffic sucks. something to try if you are running late on the way to the station. steve
kurnell
I missed my to Nong Khai once and a motorbike taxi took me to another station, where we caught up with the train. I think it happens a lot.
Sporting Dog
I got stuck in a taxi in traffic on Suk and missed the last flight from Don Muang to Khon kaen, so I got the taxi driver to drop me off in Khon Kaen..
RickBradford
Slightly O/T, but when you're coming back from the south to Hua Lampong, it very often makes sense to get off at Bang Sue and take the MTR from there, as the train takes another 45 exasperating minutes to limp into Hua Lampong, stopping at every traffic light, or so it seems..... PeaceBlondie
2 or 3 times, traveling between Chiang Mai and Hua Hin, I was told to get off at Bang Sue southbound, cross the tracks on foot, and wait for train coming from Hua Lampong.

Bang Sue is North of Bangkok?? Does the train head out to the North and then do a loop back to head South? Anyway the underground runs to Hua Lampong Station so no need to ever be stuck in traffic again. Edited August 17, 2009 by PattayaParent

There is one platform & station for south bound trains & a separate station & platform for north & north east bound stations. Thay are about 100 yards apart.
