Singaporean Nabbed In Thailand With Ecstasy

Featured Replies

BANGKOK: Thai officials arrested a Singaporean man at Bangkok's main airport on charges of trafficking more than 1,500 ecstasy tablets in his underpants, a customs official said on Saturday.

Peh Hock Hai was arrested on Friday as he passed through the "Green Channel" at Suvarnabhumi International airport after arriving from Singapore, the official said.

He had 1,576 tablets of ecstasy wrapped in five small packages hidden in his underwear, with an estimated total street value of 2.3 million baht (67,500 dollars), said the official.

Peh was charged with smuggling drugs and illegal possession of drugs with intent to traffic. The charges carry a possible death penalty.

The incident came after police on Thursday said they had arrested another Singaporean and a Malaysian national on charges of trying to smuggle one tonne of marijuana out of the country.

A Singaporean with drugs in his underwear ? No wonder he was caught, must have been a dead give-away for the customs officers. Easy to spot a large Package
