Pattaya, August 24 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : On Monday Morning at Pattaya City Hall, over 250 local government officials attended an anti-corruption seminar which was opened by Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya and presented by Khun Nopadon, the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Commission Region 4. It was stressed that strict enforcement of anti-corruption legislation would mean that no one, regardless of their position in society would be able to avoid the law and it was the responsibility of local government leaders to ensure that corruption is not permitted within their area of responsibility.

I know many of you will laugh at this and think "this will never happen" or "this wont change anything", but think about this. Khun Itipon and Khun Nopadon both have their face value invested in this, so if anyone engages in corruption and they are made aware of it, then they are forced to take action, or to lose face.

So I am pleased with this and I hope this is a step in the right direction of a more stable and transparent Pattaya.

I'll believe it when we have a large fleet of Bangkok style taxi meters here, that USE the meters. What does this have to do with city hall? Plenty. They allowed the fiasco of the baht bus "collective" owning the bogus taxis here. Pattaya remains probably the most corrupt city in one of the most corrupt countries on the planet. But its still a fun place ...

Why did they not hold the meeting at the police station, I wonder. That would have saved a lot of time and money ,

so if anyone engages in corruption and they are made aware of it, then they are forced to take action, or to lose face.
