Geekfreaklover
Sokel,We from the UK are taxed to the hilt to pay for health care, education, emergency services etc. etc. So why shouldn't we sit back and enjoy what we have paid for. The assylum seekers, ilegal immigrants get it for free, not the born and bred in the UK people. Pitbullman, Would it be fair to say that England has 'gone to the dogs'? sokal
Can we be "fed up" but wanting to go to a different place than "home?" If so, put me down in that category. There are so many interesting places to live: Panama, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Dominica, Bahamas, Bali, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Austria, Italy, New Zealand.........to name a few. For me, it might be better to visit Thailand-Titanic from time to time (to see how far it is sinking) and make my home base in a more civilized, less xenophobic, expat friendly country. May I ask why you still here? I wonder why people come on a Thailand forum to bash the people of Thailand. 99% of these bashers will stay here, there contrarian view is just a way of getting attention. They know most of the people on the forum like the place. " hey look at me, I hate Thailand "

sassienie
Please post reasons why you are fed up by Thailand and want to go back to you home country? My reasons would be in my home country there is: More job security Better health care People are sincere and honest Relationships are not all about the money Not many fall for criminal populistic poilticians No congested streets Comparing what you say and equating my country, England and my residing country, Thailand: More job security Agree Better health care Depends People are sincere and honest Good & bad everywhere Relationships are not all about the money Agree Not many fall for criminal populistic poilticians So what about the British National Party? No congested streets Agree to a point I do miss my ole friends and some family members. I live in Chiang Mai that can be boring and easy to get stuck in a void here, but in all, no real complaints. livinthailandos
Comparing what you say and equating my country, and my residing country, Thailand: Put my input on this relating matter I'm from the US so as far as More job security Not in the US right now, only jobs that still need people are in government, healthcare, computer jobs, everything from retail, auto sector, banking, warehouse, delivery, just about every industry back home is in the toilet and the so called umemployment rate should go over 10%, unemployment benefits go has 26 weeks. Better health care Yes and no, back home I have to pay 7500 baht a month for health insurance, this doesn't guarantee to cover all sickness or surgerys. Then for dental care I pay another 3500 baht a month for dental insurance. If your poor, sick or employed or unemployed in the US with no healthcare insurance life sucks especially then if you have kids to. In the US now hospitals are looking at ways of determining if they want to deal with you based on your credit rating. as of now the US has 44 million people who have no health care insurance, is it because theirs no competition or because health care costs are to high. People are sincere and honest Good & bad everywhere ( I totally agree on this statement ) Relationships are not all about the money Agree Not many fall for criminal populistic poilticians So what about the British National Party? ( Politicans everywhere are all the same, personally they just talk alot, they couldn't care less about the average citizen No congested streets Agree to a point ( also I agree on this ) As far as being fed up or going back home. I'd rather be here than back in the USA. Cost of living varies mind you, but my lifestyle here is better than home and when I feel I want to being back in the 1st world country I just jump on a plane and travel or go to singapore for a few days. You want health your healthcare paid by somebody else. Thailand has good health care if you have the money to pay for it. All your other reasons are just an illusion. While I agree that it is possible to get excellent health care here I would add that just because you are paying top dollar at one of the 'big four' hospitals it doesn't mean you are getting top class care. You would be shocked if you knew about the thoroughly unprofessional behavior that goes on behind the scenes at some of the most expensive hospitals. They are businesses FIRST and FOREMOST. InterestedObserver
Why did these people move to Thailand in the first place? Didn't they do their homework before getting on the airplane? Heng
Relationships are not all about the money in the west ? can anyone explain this to me ? In the west if you stop paying the utility, grocery, etc. bills, property taxes, your wife will just say don't worry sweetie, we'll live on love. Or she'll support you. In other words, you'll likely marry a gal who decides her full time occupation is not just being a housewife. Of course, they exist here as well, but well, you know... Also, if you get divorced, then it's really not about the money at all. Oh, I guess that's what they mean. When you don't love each other, then you can sue each other. technocracy
Yes, I got fed up with Thailand and went back to Oz. Main reasons:the climate pollution no top class rugby or cricket the traffic language, culture, and family financial security poor quality of television and the media generally (maybe better now, particularly via internet) You went back to Oz for poor tv!?!? Oz has absolutely god awful TV! Mind you talking of poor tv has anyone experience South African TV (other than that excellent SuperSport Channels!) - now that is an experience! A UBC dish in Thailand and you are sorted and if you pushed the boat out further you can get the DSTv complete with the SA SuperSport channels and you're set for life! The UBC complete lack of the Ashes we very hard to suffer - if I want watch any other than very bad indian streams on the internet I had to go down town. But at least the best team won! (Sorry couldn't help it!)

lioness
Just occassionally I think I would like out of here, I usually head to Australia, notice I don't say home anymore. Anyhow after a few days I am just wanting to get back here. In the early years there were things I would look forward to having or seeing going back to Oz or even the UK, but even that's worn out it's uniqueness. Now every time I visit I wonder why I bothered. Its a case of get your mind right and get on with living, rather than hanging on to the things that aren't here. I do get so sick of people that keep saying, well back home they had this or that, why do folks hang on to the "back home" syndrome. I have lived long term in 4 countrys and to me home is always where my bed is.
sendbaht
Sometimes I miss the graffiti and gang violence, shootings on the freeway and hanging around lots of committed Christians but I get over it and enjoy the peace I feel here in Thailand. manarak
every time I get back from Thailand thinking it may not be the best to live, less than an hour or two after unboarding the plane, the reality hits me in the face... mostly the unfriendlyness of everyone and the cost of not living like a cheapo begins with the taxi - a turk or an albanian who just grunts and then wants 2000 baht for driving 25 mins... Main reasons:the climate pollution no top class rugby or cricket the traffic language, culture, and family financial security poor quality of television and the media generally (maybe better now, particularly via internet) No traffic in Oz? Try Sydney or Melbourne. No pollution in Oz? There are highly polluted places in Oz and unpolluted places in Thailand. No top class rugby or cricket? This would have been obvious before you left Oz. Television and Internet are ok. I have friends in Oz who have worse. My guess is that you either ran out of cash, had a bad experience with a Thai lady or just missed your mom.
