New Forum Section?

Lost in LOS

Recommended Posts

It seems like there are a lot of subjects that farangs living in Thailand want to discuss that don't necessarily have Thailand in the topic but is of interest or need to someone living here. How about a new General forum sub-forum with these posts so only the people that need to discuss this stuff can get on, there arent many other alternatives

some simple examples

US social security

England social secutity

heath care problems for europeans living here getting insured from their country

some sport information

pointing out Thai restaurants in other countries

not great examples but you get the idea

there are just way too many of these things to be ignored and stuff we need to discuss. Rather than the poster or moderator saying whats this got to do with Thailand we will have a separate spot for it. work for you?

Without the sport and health issues (there's already a suitable forum for each) this could fly. A single sub forum for social security (of all countries), thoughts as to what to call it and where to put it would be a good start.

We usually ask those wanting new sub-forums to start a poll in whatever main forum suits best, to gauge opinion as to how many takers there'd be (no fun having a forum with only two regular posters.

Thoughts anyone?

Oddly enough Thailand isn't the center of the universe, as such every 2nd news article is about Taksin. I have seen a few interesting posts shut down as not Thai related. Why not have an open non-Thai section? I would imagine it would be popular. Thai visa is hardly a forum only about visas any more, move on.

I always thought that Thaivisa to share and find information about anything that expat living in Thailand, whether or not it is related to Thailand so I propose to continue only this form adding additional subject areas for additional information that I or expat are looking/asking for

Moved to forum support ---

If you wish to start a new subforum that has relevance for those of us living in Thailand or interested in life in Thailand then please be sure to peruse the list of subforums to make sure that there isn't a relevant forum for the topic of interest.

Members who take an active interest in certain topics managed to get both the fishing forum and the audio/visual forums started by garnering support.

There - you already have your answer - they dont want any changes - note all the mod action - plus they moved it here, which is the kiss of death.

I concur - this is not a Thai exclusive forum - 99% of the folks are non Thai - plus I am darned sure George wants to expand his business.

Neverdie succeeded with his new 'audio' sub - bad pun - whilst it was one the 'front page' with some help from 'Crossy' as I recall.

Maybe the proposer is not liked by the mods and someone else should propose later.

Even a casual glance thru the subs indicates this is not Thai exclusive, so no idea why they keep trashing interesting topics - perhaps just not enough vitriol?!

In some ways it has grown too large or has become convoluted - perhaps it needs a database revamp is all.

It could work front & centre - never in the middle of the stix though - it has to attract plenty action, otherwise its toast.

You have to analyze what is topical and run with it - if it does not attract enough advertisers, then fine - move it.
