Problem With My Ear

Perhaps you misheard ? ( :) Sorry! Some ear problems can be extremely painful.)

Is it an inner ear problem or something else?

It's true many doctors here have day jobs (teaching or at other clinics/hospitals). This seems especially to be the case with specialists at Ram Hospital.

Can you tell us which area of town you are in? Or check http://www.1stopchiangmai.com/essential/medical/ or http://www.discoverythailand.com/directory..._chiang_mai.asp .

Sripat (http://www.chiangmai-thai.com/smsc.htm) or Maharaj/Suan Dok (Maharaj Hospital

Address: 10 Suthep Road, T Suthep, A Muang Chiang Mai. Tel: 053 221 517-8. ) should have someone who can help during the day time.

If you suspect an infection and are in severe pain, it may help to put yourself on some antibiotics (buy from pharmacy) if you can't find medical help soon. No, I am not a medical practitioner and yes, I know it's not good to take antibiotics too often ... just saying I'd personally consider doing this.

Good luck.

If it is simple most likely to be intectios diseases, you can go to any doc any hospital.

If it is something more complicated, Tinnitus, Lost of balance, sudden hearing loss...make an appointment with ENT man.

They should have one at CMR in the day time.

I have a problem with my right ear.

Tried to make appointments but what I tried they only are available after 5 pm. I ask myself what they are doing during daytime.

Anybody knows a different option?

I have been seeing Dr Chalermpong ENT dept on an ongoing basis at Chiangmai Ram. Last time he wasn't there so I saw a younger guy Dr Banjong and I thought he was quite thorough and I may stick with him. They both work mornings (I think) - if you give Ram a call they will tell you when they are there. you don't need an appointment, just go between the hours they are scheduled. I'm sure you will get alternatives from others here.

Tip: get there up to 30 minutes earlier than the time the doctor is scheduled to arrive. Make sure the nurses know you have arrived (speak to them and sit close by). Let the nurses know you are keeping a close eye on the "queue" :) once the doctor starts seeing patients .

Thank you for your replies.

It is a serious problem: A few weeks ago I had a "running ear" It means that fluid comes out of the ear constantly. After antibiotics it was a little less, it is coming back again.

Next to that I cannot speak about a hole in my drum... I don't have a drum at all. So I am completely deaf at that side. I heard they can repair that but I am asking myself if I can get my hearing back.

Thanks to that all, I am unstable, so something has to be done.

As this problem is serious, I'd ask the moderators to move your question to the Health forum, where Sheryl and others will give expert advice and references.

The "repair" to which you refer would be a surgical one? Can you travel? Bangkok may then be your best option.

Meanwhile, take yourself to one of the larger hospitals in CM. The doctors recommended by "uptheos" should be able to give initial help, at least.

Take care.

I agree with WaiWai it sounds as if you really need expert advice, basically use this forum as a starting point.

Good luck :)

As a 39 year sufferer of ear noises I recommend : Dr. Morgan, she speaks perfect English, walk in and no appointment needed. Hang Dong Road opposite Teso Lotus near airport Plaza.
