H2oDunc
Just come back from a fresh water cave diving trip to Khoa Sok just south of Chumphon in the national park there. A truly amazing place. When my friend started diving there he was told they had 3 caves to explore. They have found another 9 since then and he believes there are lots more as its a huge lake. You can actually be the first person to dive some of these caves. I enjoyed doing my tech course but this has taken my diving to another level.. My friend is also got hooked by it and is setting up a compressor and some tanks there so he doesn't have to haul it all there from Koh Tao every time he fancies doing a dive. He has a cave diving instructor that comes down from Pattaya to teach the courses and my friend is now doing his cave diving instructor course. Here are some surface shots of the place and will upload a short video of the underwater footage soon. We saw some really big catfish down there which suddenly appear out of the mirk. The accomodation is basic but adequate and the Thai's there are very friendly and helpful. We are organising another trip shortly if anybody wants to join it. Just PM me for details. JimmyTheMook
That must really be awesome ! How big are the caves that you swim in to ?
H2oDunc
This was my first trip there but my friend has discovered some really massive caves, and deep as well. The place is amazing. As said he was told there was 3 caves to dive in but he has already found another 9 and reckons there is lots more to be discovered. It is a totally different dive experience from either the Gulf or the Andaman sea's. I can't wait to get back. Already had a few PM's asking about joining the next trip so we may end up with a convoy ha ha ha.
ScubaBuddha
Looking forward to the video. I'd like to do this one day, but am only a recreational instructor so probably couldn't go far. 750 dives, half warm water, half cold water. Maybe 50 cave dives, some in fresh water in Florida that were very interesting. Edited September 20, 2009 by Scubabuddha
H2oDunc
SB there are lots of recreational instructors getting into it at the moment. It makes a refreshing change from Koh Tao diving. If you fancy it Pm me and I will give you the guys number. He runs trips Sundays and Wednesdays at the moment.
