Planning on going to Thailand (currently in Cambodia) for at least 90 days. Thinking it will be cheaper and easier to do this before arriving in Thailand. Is that a correct assumption? Would love to get 6month, but not sure if that's possible.... Trying to avoid the domestic Thai shuffle of doing border runs every 30 days! You can get 2 entry tourist visa that gives you 60 days each entry that can be extended for 30 days at immigration. You may be able to get it in PP before you leave Cambodia. If not then you can get it free in Vientiane Laos.

You only get 15 days at border crossings now. You still get 30 days if you fly in.

You can try to obtain double entry tourist visa from embassy in Phnom Penh. Each stay is 60 days and can be extended for 30 days at immigration in Thailand. That would give you 6 months with border run in the middle. Vientiane will issue for sure. Otherwise obtain single entry tourist visa from Phnom Penh and extend for 30 days. A border run would give you a further 15 days at land crossing or 30 days by air (visa exempt stamp, not a visa).

In Phnom Penh the visa will be $120 for a 2 entry. A single entry will be free. It will take 2 days to get it.

In Vientiane a 2 entry is free and it takes 1 day to get (apply morning of one day back the next afternoon).
