Govt To Establish National Savings Fund

The government is preparing to establish the National Savings Fund for the purpose of delivering better retirement life for the country's greying population.

The Fund, once established, will offer an interesting saving programme for people.

"People can join this programme on a voluntary basis. We plan to collect from them a monthly contribution of at least Bt100 until they reach 60 years of age," Finance Ministry deputy permanent secretary Satit Rangkhasiri said Monday.

He said the government would give a matching contribution to the programme too in accordance with the participating people's age.
