All democrats walk out from House session

BANGKOK: -- All MPs of the opposition Democrat Party walked out of a House session today after a female Democrat was ordered by the Thai Rak Thai House Speaker to leave the room.

The incident took place after the female Democrat, Miss Rangsima Rodrasamee, claimed that a Thai Rak Thai MP voted for other Thai Rak Thai MPs who were absent from the House session.

The alleged Thai Rak Thai MP, who was later identified as Mr. Payap Panket from the central province of Singburi, denied the accusation, leading to strong arguments between the two sides.

The newly-appointed Thai Rak Thai House Speaker, Bhokin Bhalakula, then ordered Miss Rangsima to leave the room.

The female Democrat MP then walked out of the House session, followed by all other Democrat MPs in protest of the House Speaker's judgement.

The MPs were voting for an appropriate time of the House's regular weekly sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Thai Rak Thai MPs want the time to be set in the afternoon, at 1:30 p.m.; while the Democrats want it to be set in the morning, at 09:30 a.m. to have more time for debates and deliberations of draft bills.

Given their majority, the Thai Rak Thai MPs then won the vote for the issue.

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra did not attend the House session, as he left for Japan with his family this morning for a private trip.

I applaud the Democrats show of unity in support of one of their own. Not sure if TRT could/would do the same. How quickly TRT has grown in their arrogance. I hope the voters have taken note of who they voted in.
