I have just moved to Phuket and want to buy a moped/scooter. I am going to be here for around a year and will sell the bike when I leave, so I want to know how much value a bike will lose in that amount of time. I'm not sure whether to buy a new bike, as I would imagine this will lose more resale value in a year, or a used one (which might be worthless after that time! I have a budget of up to 40,000 BHT if needed, but would rather pay under 30,000BHT. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jono

With a budget of up to 40 you wont be buying much new unless its a really poor example.

Hondas hold up more but selling a bike is all about finding a buyer, the dealer will give about 25k back on a 45k purchase once its got >1000 kms on it. Private sale can be 30 - 40 on a 50 - 55k purchased bike if its in A1 nick.

I have an old clunker I could shift for 15k.. Old but strong, manual etc.
