Hi there, how many photos can a 4GB memory card stores in a 12 megapixels digital camera..thanks

Loosely I gigabyte is 1000 megabyte (loosely)

So, approx 333.

But you never get a "true" 4 gig anyway so call it c.300

There are a lot of variables when you are referring to the number of pixels, they don't directly equate to a file size due to various formats and compressions. RAW, TIFF can take a lot of space while .jpg in it's different compression mode such as fine, normal, extra fine. Knowing the brand and model of the camera we can get more exact information.

Here is a basic calculator > Megapixel calculator

Would not the camera tell you this? :)

I have one (4GB memory card) in my Oly E-3 (10 megapixels digital camera) set on RAW+JPG-Fine, so about 300 or less is about right. The camera tells me 155 shots, but then that is double taking into account both RAW+JPG-Fine are stored on it.

Hope this helps you.

Yours truly,

Kan Win :D

If you store as jpg then you will get more as it is a compressed format.

On my camera, 10Mp, the images are around 3Mb

RAW only will be larger

RAW + jpg even bigger
