R/T on TG is 45K baht in ecoomy  and 60K in premium economy after taxes which seems quite a bit more than other airlines, although granted it's nonstop.  Does anyone know of a travel agent on website where you can get these tickets any cheaper?

try moxtravel dot com, sometimes have cheaper fares for TG

Mox travel I know about and they were a few hundred baht more than the TG website.

I understand that but eva isn't in star alliance nor do they have a nonstop flight.

I would try a local travel agency. I used roongsarp on silom soi 8 road 02-2557885 02-2557886. They were about 5,000 baht cheaper than the website. However still quite more expensive than other airlines. One could save 10-20k if flying eva , cathay, china airlines, KE or Japan.

You'll have to pay extra for the convience of a direct non stop flight to and back from LAX.

I normally take EVA which is around 10k-15k cheaper than TG though having to stop in Taipei for a few hours. I can used the money saved to shop and buy a few beers :)
