I go to Bangkok from Pattaya a few days a month. I usually don't bring my passport, just a copy of front page and current visa. I use my Thai DL for ID for the hotel etc. I dont like to carry my passport around. Seeing that they are checking passports more lately should I be bringing my passport to Bangkok, just in case, and locking it in the safe. My DL always works fine for the hotel

thanks

I would indeed take the passport, as the hotel has to report your stay to immigration. Their report includes details about your visa and permission to stay. A copy is nice, but not officialy allowed so always a risk.
