If I just buy my ticket and hop on the plane I understand that I can access Thailand for up to thirty days and once I am there I can apply for an extension.

Could anyone tell me if it is true? I am 23 and a UK citizen.

I would like to stay fro at least six months so I think I would have to do a visa run. If anyone could shed some light on this subject I would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance.

1. They may well not allow you on the aircraft without a return confirmed ticket within 30 days.

2. If you manage to arrive and obtain a 30 day stamp you will be lucky to be able to extend it more than 10 days at a cost of 1,900 baht.

3. With no visa you will have to cross a border every month and return to Thailand; and perhaps show money to prove you can support your stay.

4. Get some type of visa - either double entry tourist or multi entry non immigrant O at a consulate first.
