neilrob
One of my cats cut her rear leg badly. She is now recovered except that she has lost control of her paw and often drags it, upper side down. To prevent wounds to her foot I put on a sock. I make socks from the fingers of cotton work gloves, taped in place with bandage tape. This works, except they don't last long. I've racked my brains for a better substitute, but can't think of one. I'd appreciate any ideas, preferably using something available in Chiang Mai. Thanks.
Nienke
A piece of the inner tire of a bicycle or motor bike stuck to the sock will last quite a while.
bina
soft leather or fake leather sort of shoe and laced on her foot like a bootie?

Rimmer
What about the leather 'finger' or Thumb' stalls that you buy from the pharmacy when you cut your finger, maybe one of those can be cut down to fit.

473geo
Have you also tried putting a small splint in to 'sock' keep the paw in postion so the pad side is down? might eventually come right.
Patsycat
Or perhaps ask the vet to put a cast on her until the wound heals. Jimmy had one when he hurt his paw and the time for the wound to heal was much diminished with it. We had a blue one, a yellow one and (my vet thinks he is a bit of a joker) even a green one around the time of St. Patricks day!!! But, seriously, they needed to put the cast on for hygiene reasons. If they hadn't he may have got a horrible infection which may have led to him losing a leg or his life. The cast was changed and the wound cleaned out every two to four days. eek
Found this: http://handicappedpets.com/www/index.php/h...eg-splints.html If you cant get hold of one maybe you could make something similar (inner tube as Nienke suggests perhaps?) neilrob
Thanks for the various suggestions which have given me some good ideas to try. The leg is long since healed (except for the nerve damage which I believe is unlikely to get better now), so a cast would not be appropriate. I have tried various splints and unfortunately they just cause her to drag her whole leg, instead of just the tip of her paw. I'm currently trying the soft leather shoe suggested by bina. She doesn't much like it and tries to get it off, but I think I'm winning! Thanks again.
