Forgot To Report To Imm. For My 90 Day Sign In On 1 Year Visa

Featured Replies

I am now 5 days too late to report into Immigration to get my 90 sign in. Is there a fine i will have to pay? How much is it?

You are allowed 7 days before or after the report due date.

You are allowed 7 days either side. :D

If you go over that the fine is 2,000 Baht. :)

all you have to do is remember to go every 90 days, is this really too difficult, no wonder immigration are tightening things up for everyone.

Thank you to the first 2 replies. You both answered my questions nicely. As for the 3rd reply, it sounds like you got out of the wrong side of the bed today.

I have been in Thailand 13 years. This is the first time i have been late in stamping my passport.

Are sure this is the first time.. :) .????...as on a 90 day report they dont stamp your passport, they staple a bit of paper in the your P/P... :D

Last year I forgot to put it in my calendar once, when I remembered I was two months overdue. Still 2,000 baht. Every time I go I wonder if it wouldn't be worth it just to skip it and pay the fine when renewing my visa.

True! That crossed my mind too after paying 2kb on Thursday for 10 months never reporting. :)

Yes, me too.

Had to go on March 10, finally went today (22 Sept). 2,000 baht ... no questions asked.

I would have thought a copy of a 12 months lease should be enough.

But, I guess this would negate a cash stream for Immigration. :)

Sniff, did you have to endure room 509? :D

I have a couple of questions.

1) Is the whole thing reset when you leave the country? If you don't report and just exit (with a re-entry stamp) and come back, is there ever any comeback?

2) Do they actually check 90 day report at visa renewal? I thought they were in different places (90 day reporting and visa/extension of stay renewal) and ne're the twain shall meet.

Yes, the date is reset so the new 90 days period starts from the new entry.

I do not know as I haven't submitted my first extended of stay application yet. However, when you do that for the first time your 90 days period can be reset at the same time but only this first time. Thereafter they 'live' there own lives.

Down in Ranong it's in the same office. For renewal they send your details/application to "Big Boss" in Hat Yai.

My mate from the UK has made two failures in making his 90 days reports, both were only a couple of days out. When he recently went to re-new his visa, they reminded him of this and told him NO MORE MISTAKES if you do this, then we will not process your 12 monthly Visa extension. Please don't shoot me as I am only the messenger and am only going on what he told me.

All information is entered into the computer system. Previously most officers did not have personal access to computer. That has changed and most have computer terminals now.

It could backfire on you. this is covered under Section 37(5) of the Immigration Act.

http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/do...ation_Act.pdfun

The Immigration Act also states, under penalties:

Section 76 : Any alien, alien, who fails to comply with the provisions of Section 37(2),(3),(4)or(5) shall be

punished with a fine not exceeding 5,000 Baht and with and additional fine not exceeding 200 Baht for

each day which passes until the law is complied with.

So you could clock up B5000 plus B200 per day.

The B2000 is just the accepted Norm.

Think your mate is talking through his bottom, as you get 7 days grace on the due date, so couldnt have been a couple of days.... :)

Could immigration in theroy give you a hard time with your visa extension, yes they could, because you are not complying with the conditions set out on your extension, ie you must report every 90 days

"I have been in Thailand 13 years."

Really? Then how do you explain that you didn't understand the either reporting requirements (90+/- 7 days), or the fine?

Enough!!!

The OP made a mistake.

End of argument!
