Small Accident

I was driving into Silom a couple of days ago and I was on Soi Sala Daeng in heavy traffic going into Silom but the otherside of the road there was not so much traffic going the other way. a girl on a push bike rode out in front of my stationary car and on the the other side of the road where she was hit by an oncoming car. not hard but just hard enough to make her fall of the bike inbetween the car that hit her and the one in front of me. her bike did some damage to both cars but the girl got up and did not seem hurt that much that she could not ride off again. anyway, the girl stood there for some time but nothing happened, both of the drivers of the cars did not get out or anything they just sat there looking ahead.

so the girl rode off sharpish.

then the traffic started to move again. but the drivers of the cars did not move with the traffic they just sat there. then the women who was in the car who hit the bike got out to inspect the damage. they took ages looking at each others cars, cars behind me were starting to beep there horns to tell them to move there cars. then I wound down my window and said to the women that she should move her car because she is blocking the road and she says to me, " do you mind, cant you see that we have had an accident"? and so I said, "yes sure I saw the whole thing, I even saw you sit there and let the girl ride off, and now you dicide to get out of the car. MOVE YOUR CAR' and then they got back into there cars and drove off.!!!!

why would they just sit in the car like that after hitting someone and then get out once its all over to block the road even longer? is that strange or is it just me? or was that a TIT moment?

I think it's quite obvious, they waited for the victim in all this to get up and see if she was injured. If she collapsed with any expensive looking injuries I fully expect that they would have driven off, however as she was not seriously injured there was no need to 'do a runner' so they stay and squabble amongst themselves about the damage to the cars.

While I can understand the Op's frustration, I think Ulrules post pretty much sums it up. As I understand, if there is an accident, Thai law forbids moving the vehicles invloved. Mix in some self absorbtion and wha la, our cluster f_uck is complete! Actually I'm surprised that they didn't wander off to the nearest som tom shop and chill out.

yeah, you both make sense and reading it as you put it "waiting to see if they have to do a runner". amazing. its just that both stayed dead still in there cars and only got out once the girl zoomed off. by then I was thinking that they were morons for not getting out earlier. then they started looking at the damage while all along the road people were waiting to get to work.

then another funny thing happened after that. the guy driving the car in front of me (a new Camry) drove of down the road and took a left turn onto the road going into the back of Central Silom carpark, he miss read the turning I think because he hit one of them high curbs that you get over here and shredded his rim! the car got stuck so he needed to reverse and turn again but he did not do that, instead he just put his foot down and forced the rear of the car to skid around the curb. <deleted>-king nuts. so now he needs a paint job where the bike hit him and a new rim! where is the sense?
