Air travel is being overhauled with a new aircraft design which plans to seat passengers facing each other in rows.

The controversial design is intended to save space and money and could see 50 per cent more passengers packed on to each plane.

Think positive.

At least everybody has an aisle seat. :D

They kick these ideas around every so often, but nothing is ever done about it. I wouldn't worry too much

So how does one take the "BRACE" position when sitting in this type of configuration, I'd be shltting in my pants if the guy aft of me weighed 200kg and where about to spear in --- Oh, I guess I'd be crapping my self in a plush modular seat come bed at the pointy end as well.

ANYWAY it is used widely on military troop transports but that is a whole different ball game.

Doubt any of these would meet safety standards - also saw a design where people are strapped in standing up.

In military transport the safety of the passengers is enhanced by the design of the seats, the discipline of the passengers, the fact the passengers are more or less of the same statue.

And most important hooking-in of passengers in case of an emergency.

I don.t see civilian passengers as a disciplined lot, and I really wonder if you might call them of the same statue.
